CEDAM/MSHDA Roundtable Notes Available. Notes from the July/August CEDAM/MSHDA Roundtables, held across the state, are available. View the notes, which include a summary of issues raised at the Roundtables and responses provided by MSHDA.

Evaluation Training on the Horizon. CEDAM recently offered Measuring Success in Community Development: Beyond Just Bricks and Mortar in Detroit on Friday, October 3. View the flyer; keep your eyes open for details on a future on-line version to be offered by CEDAM.

Summer 2008 newsletter available! CEDAM's Summer 2008 Newsletter can now be viewed on-line. Expanded versions of several of the articles are also available, along with extended information on CEDAM's 2008 CED Award Winners.

Michigan Downtown Conference 2008. Michigan's premiere conference on downtown development took place September 8-10 in downtown Bay City. This year's conference featured keynote speaker Marianna Hayes who spoke about making the most of opportunities downtown in a down economy and marketing to the Millennial generation. The conference featured 14 sessions in two different tracks.

CEDAM Comprehensive Industry Report now available! Based on the data/information provided by our members this past Fall, CEDAM has just released our newest INDUSTRY REPORT. Entitled Vibrant Michigan Communities in Action, this exciting publication shares many statistics about our members and the wealth of investment they make across our state. Many different aspects of CED are highlighted through a series of case studies. If you would like to receive a copy of the report, please contact our office, or visit our publications page.

New policy tools available on-line. Check out CEDAM's new Public Policy & Legislation pages for up-to-date information on legislation and policy being tracked by CEDAM at both the state and national levels.

Winter 2008 newsletter available! CEDAM's Winter 2008 Newsletter can now be viewed on-line.

2008 Bi-Partisan Legislative Build announced. CEDAM has joined with Michigan Habitat for Humanity and other statewide nonprofit organizations to support the 2008 Bi-Partisan Legislative Build. The initiative will emphasize housing and community development projects in every legislative district in Michigan and will include hands-on participation by legislators in at least one project in their home districts. Events will be taking place all summer; view the press release for more information.

Many conferences on the way in 2008. Details on the 10th Annual Michigan Conference on Affordable Housing, taking place in Lansing April 28-30, 2008, are available. CEDAM will be hosting its own 10-year Anniversary Event on April 29. Leading up to that, from April 15-17, the Small Town & Rural Development conference will take place at Crystal Mountain. Following in May of 2008 will be the Brownfields 2008 conference in Detroit; the Michigan Historic Preservation Network's Preserving History, Conserving Energy conference in Dearborn; and the Michigan Nonprofit Association's Nonprofit SuperConference in Lansing. Among other activities, CEDAM will also be partnering in the offering of this year's Michigan Downtowns Conference (in September - dates and location TBD) and the national Creative Cities 2.0 Conference (October 13-15 in Detroit).

Happy 10 year anniversary, CEDAM! 2008 marks the tenth anniversary of CEDAM. We are planning a number of events and special features this year to commemorate this milestone, including a special anniversary event on April 29, 2008. Details will be available in program materials for the 2008 Michigan Conference on Affordable Housing -- also celebrating its 10th year.

Real Estate Development Training (REDT) 2008
CEDAM has just begun its 2008 session of REDT. A brochure describing this signature program is available. If you are on the staff or Board of a CDC or other community-based organization engaging in affordable housing development, then you do not want to miss out on this training opportunity! Building Sustainable Communities Conference a success! Michigan LISC, Detroit LISC, and CEDAM partnered to facilitate a Building Sustainable Communities Conference on November 7, 2007 in Lansing. This one-day informative conference provided an overview of LISC’s definition of “sustainable communities” and how it directly relates to the rebuilding of Michigan’s distressed neighborhoods. CEDAM has been involved with the formation of a new national association, the National Alliance of CED Associations (NACEDA). Visit NACEDA's new website for information this newly-formed group.

Support Michigan's Housing and Community Development Fund (MHCDF)! MHCDF is a program that will allow Michigan cities and communities to compete for, attract, and retain the brightest and best workers in the country. The program concentrates efforts in downtowns, neighborhoods, affordable housing and supportive housing. Please consider sending in a letter of support to your legislator -- a template letter is available. Please also visit and register at the MHCDF website, www.livinginmichigan.org!
