The Asset Building Policy Project (ABPP) at the Community Economic Development Association of Michigan (CEDAM) unites individual-development and community-development policy to create opportunities and assets that will help families and communities thrive.

The purpose of the ABPP
is to promote asset building policy in Michigan and advance the policy goals and recommendations of the ABC. This page contains some of the materials, presentations and publications used by the ABPP to achieve this purpose.

Please note that like the work of the ABPP, this page is far from complete. As our work continues, more materials will be added, so visit this pate regularly and offer any suggestions or recommendations for improvement. Since it is important that this page is useful to you and the work you do, let us know what you need.

Helping Working Families Achieve Financial Security

In 2005, the Michigan Asset Building Coalition (ABC) met over a six-month period with an express purpose of creating a report outlining new and existing state policy options with the greatest potential to help working poor households build assets toward becoming more financially secure. In January 2006, the ABC released: Helping Working Families Achieve Financial Security.

CFED Assets & Opportunities Scorecard

The ABPP uses the CFED Assets and Opportunities Scorecard as one of its key analysis tools to highlight existing policy and create new policy options with the greatest potential to help working poor households build assets toward becoming more financially secure.
